Dr. Pradeep Kumar Joshi took oath as Chairman of UPSC. Union Public Service Commission is known as UPSC
Prof. Joshi joined the Commission as a member in the year 2015.
Professor (Dr.) Pradeep Kumar Joshi is current chairman of Union Public Service Commission.Previously he served as Chairman, Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission and also Chairman,Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission. He also served as Director, National Institute of
Educational Planning & Administration (NIEPA), [Ministry of HRD, Government of India]. The
position of Director has been changed to Vice Chancellor & NIEPA has been changed to NUEPA (National University of Educational Planning & Administration).
Dr. Joshi did his Post Graduate Degree in Commerce in 1977 and Ph.D. Degree in Commerce in 1981 from Kanpur University,Kanpur. Professor Joshi has been in the field of education for more than 28 years. Dr. Joshi served as the Professor, Head & Dean, Faculty of Management Studies, Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur
He has held no of responsibility during his working period.
He succeeded Arvind Saxena who completed his term as UPSC chairman.
Arvind Saxena was born on 8 August 1955 .He is an Indian civil servant and he was 1978-batch officer, he also served in the Indian Postal Service for 10 years.
He served as Director of the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration.
During his career, Dr. Joshi taught more than 28 years at postgraduate level and held many important positions in various policy making, academic and administrative bodies.
Union Public Service Commission(UPSC) is the central recruiting body in India. It conducts the recruitment and examinations for All India services for both (Group A & Group B).
UPSC was established on October 1, 1926, as Public Service Commission.
After Independence, it was named as Union Public Service Commission
Construction of UPSC
UPSC generally consist of 9 to 11 member with chairman.All members and chairman of UPSC appointed by the president of india.Each member service tenure is 6 years and till he working up to 65 year of age.
If any member can want to resign in between his term due to any reason than they give resignation to the president of india.
